Long time no see

It's been ages since I updated this blog but here it is.

I've been in Queensland for almost a month now and I've settled in I suppose. The people here are all very nice and all that jazz and slowly starting to get to know them. But there is an age/interest gap that I don't think will ever adequately be bridged in a social sense. Being the only student around makes it hard as well, I have a feeling the rest of my PhD will be a very lonely experience compared to what it would of been back home. Kylie in the lab is great, I have nothing but praise and gratitude for having her here but I do miss the student atmosphere and fun associated with a university lab rather then the current environment.

The college life is very tame, not that much really goes on. The odd dinner party here and there. In addition the fact that I'm at work all day as opposed to hanging with the various groups of friends here because they have half the week off from class makes it hard to integrate. Many of them also enjoy activities that are just not my cup of tea whilst the rest just don't stop studying.... ever.....

Been into the city a few times, its very different to Sydney and not as full on or culturally as diverse. Man its so hard to find $6 Thai lunches, as in there aren't any at all. No more seans special, unless u count the ham and cheese bread combo I bring like every day if i bring my lunch. The food courts at Westfield nearby has been designated as "MEH" by me and kylez especially bucking beef. I was smart to avoid this place, I mean the name it self should scream out to you "don't eat here". It didn't for kyleez, don't worry kylie i'm sure that brown liquid was gravy, i think.... probably not.... Not as many cool places to go out and the city in my opinion just doesn't have the sort of buzz that you find in Sydney or Melbourne.

I'm really looking forward to my trip back in April, I look forward to seeing all the gang(s) again and catching up with old friends and especially my family most notably my brothers so we can talk trash do dumb stuff and argue with eachother. Since i've gotten here it's as if I got dropped off on the side of the highway and got told to walk, meanwhile the rest of the world passes me by as I dordle almost to a snails pace not really going anywhere.

've got to get a tennis racket because my superb tennis skills have been called for as I've been invited to play a game of tennis, apparently I can get tennis rackets for like $50 at K-Mart (where they sell the high quality stuff katie). Anyway its 1:30 in the morning I guess I better go to bed. Oh I also need new frames for my glasses so I'll have to get Katie to go shopping with me, actually no I'd like to have money to put on a deposit on my future house ..... HAW HAW!

Promise to update more again

P.S: I'm still cooler then cool. And Oasis are still the best sam for fuck sake just give it up and admit it ...... caaaaaaaawk'ed

Brain spurt...

How do you tell a person there is hope when deep in your heart you know there is none? How do you comfort a person when you know nothing you say will make them feel better? How do you help fight the good fight when you know only defeat will arise? How do you look someone in the eye and lie to them in a vein hope they will feel reassured ? How do you live with the guilt of knowing you are a source of empty promises? What do you say when they crash down from their tower of hope and lie broken before you? How can anyone live to be a liar? And when its all over,

"How do you pick up the threads of an old life, how do you go on? When in your heart you begin to understand, there is no going back. There are some things that time cannot mend, some hurts that go to deep that have taken hold. Where time goes on but the pain still remains."

Hawt Wear!

Being the fashion expert of the century I have been testing out some of the variety of different sexy science wear options open to me in the lab recently. This has primarily been focused around eyewear. Eyewear is important as they are one of the key features in my opinion in setting the mood for a person (god damn I can talk so much shit i should be in fashion!) and such we can't wear just any sort of safty glasses we need this shit to be HOT!

So here are a few of The-Big-Reds flavors

To Cool for school:

Now for those summer months coming through we'll need to be thinking eye protection not only general lab protection but also UV protection from the hot summer sun, and of course this shit needs to be hip hop cool fo shizzle yo' so here we have the classy Dolce&Gabanna offer

Now this shit is hot, not only because The-Big Red is wearing it but namely cause they're actually womens sunnies, so not only will they stop acid splashing into my eyes and sunrays they have the whole "metrosexual" feel to them so i'm getting in touch with my feminine side, take note fellas chicks dig that shit.

Top Gun:

Of course this metro look might not be for you, in which case I can say, "good you're not into that metrosexual bs no matter how much chicks might dig it". In which case this 80's retro look Top Gun stylez is just the thing for you! The 80's were so bad in terms of fashion (and everything else) it made them totally awesome and if you know fashion everything that's bad is good and everything that sux is fabulous, so why not be in with the fab crowed by rebirthing the 80's with this sexy Tom Cruize look!

Now you might think, "i'm working in a lab i don't want to wear sun protection it might distort my view of various important things*" (*where things is a good example i can't think of). Don't worry i've also tested cool designs without the sunglass feel!

Inspire:
Ok the sun glasses thing didn't cut the mustard, no worries. Perhaps you want something a little more out there? Something outside of the mould? Well here is the thing for you, these glasses not only look funky and rad but they are top of the line eye protection!

I heard that they're popular amongst famous chemistry groups in the U.S and UK* (*this may or may not be based on total lies).

Bluesteel:

Now for the regular guy that doesn't want fancy smancy, he just wants rough, reliable, sturdy get the job done gear then you can't go further then Bluesteel. These goggles are it, there are no substitutes they look good, they feel good they got all the comforts such as extendable lobe pieces and padded nose rests and they're built to last

All the lads wear these at uni simply because they're the best (that and the uni supplies them for free....) in eyewear for young sexy guy chemists (like me).

Now thats my selection if anyone out there thinks they can find other awesome pieces (male or female) please don't hesitate to post them here, in the end we all need to look fab.

Word up to your mothers.
P.S: I'm sorry i look like a total unshaven bum, but its movember week (see a few posts back) and i'm not allowed to shave till december (and i'm lazy)...

On saturday I was horrified at completely unfounded allegations that I could not cook, by some "individuals" not to name any names (we will refer to this person as Miss X, however her first name may or may not be Vicky, and her last name may or may not begin with D.) but anywayz I set out to proove Miss X and her band of Irish wrong, and so came up with a cunning plan!

<------ This is me with a cunning plan So here it is, I decided to take pictures, proof of my cooking expertise! This lovely pizza made by ME !!!

On it, is lovely, ham, bacon, salami, pepperoni, 1 or 2 peices of cabonossi, bit o' onion, capcicum and a variety of other tasty treats topped off in fresh motzerella cheese mmmmm sooo gooooooooooood.......

After this amazing miracle of total awesomeness which was constructed by The Big Red himself, he also did the dishes. Now considering my awesomeness some people would believe such a tedious task of such insignificance would be below me. This is normally true, however to dispell the rumors that I can't do the dishes according to Vick..... err i mean Miss X and her band of potato eating irish bretheren, I took it upon myself to do them to show you how totally fantastic I am at cleaning dishes. This skill has been fine tuned after spending the last 2 years in a research lab where the most successful aspects of my chemistry usually revolves around me removing stains from glassware.

So as you can see we can all come to the great conclusion that the Big Red Rocks.

Time for bed.....
